Hampi spread across 26sq kms lie the remains of the splendid medieval city of Vijayanagara, the city of victory.Hampi was the capital of the powerful Vijayanagara empire from AD 1343 to 1565. Which was ruled by the powerful kings like Harihara II, Devaraya II, Krishna devaraya who showcased their immense might in the grandiose monuments they constructed. It is listed in the UNESCO world heritage site.

Virupaksha temple-Most sacred of the temples of Hampi. A view from Hemakuta hills..splendid isn't it?

Hemakuta hill is spreaded generously with a large number of temples, archways and pavilions. The whole of the hill was fortified with tall wide stonewalls, the ruined remains of which can still be seen.

Vittala temple- No other building in hampi can compare with this temple in terms of florid magnificence.

Mahanavami-dibba(platform)- popularly known as house of victory.This was the hub of religious ceremonies like Durga puja,Navaratri, Deepavali celebrated by Vijayanagara kings..
Mahanavami Dibbaa--Every single stone was utilized ...beautifully sculpted
Lotus Mahal- A two storeyed structure that is a blend of Indian and Islamic secular architectural styles..
This long, lofty and dignified building has 11 large chambers and beautiful arched entrances. According the local guide, Rayala used this place as a resting place for the elephants which were used in battle...--Elephant stables

Ramayana in stone- Hazara Rama temple.
Hazara Rama temple names was inspired by the 'Thousand Ramas' carved on temple's walls
 


These cubical pillars have basreliefs of Ganesa,hanuma..
At the Back of this pillar, you can see Ramayana sculpted on the walls.

Yes!! It was such an awesome place..I just say that our Beast (Innova) acted as a time machine..It took us back to Krishnadevaraya Era I say :p
